What a great turnout at 14th Soup Ottawa event last week at Impact Hub Ottawa‘s brand new space (WOW, amiright?).

By our calculations, we had 109 of you wonderfully local minded people in the audience listening to our 5 presenters and we thank you for your continued support. The project that took home the 100% of the nights proceeds was Cuts for Kids with a whopping $1090! The funding will go towards hosting a number of their future events and ensuring they can reach as many kids as possible. Follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for more information on upcoming events and ways you can involved.

Another shout out of pure appreciation to our sponsors of the evening:

We would also like to thank all our presenters of the evening:

  1. theSpace: A creative and social hub for adults with Autism. www.thespaceottawa.ca
  2. Overbrook, The Musical: Building an inclusive community through theatre & make Overbrookers proud. www.overbrook.ca

How does it work? Soup Ottawa is a micro-grant event that focuses on two things: good soup and funding great community projects. For $10, every attendee gets a bowl of quality soup and bread from a local provider and one voting spoon. The community project presenter who receives the most votes wins every penny from the pool of cash. So if 100 people show up, that’s $1000 for the winning idea!

Thank you for Attending Soup Ottawa #12!

A huge thank-you to all the community-minded people who came out to the Red Lion Public House in the Byward Market night for Soup Ottawa’s 12th event last night. After delicious bowls of hearty vegetable and cream of broccoli soup, we heard five fantastic presentations on local projects. The winner, who took home an astounding $1360, was “Building Women Up”, an initiative of WISE (Women’s Initiatives for Safer Environments – www.wiseottawa.ca). The money will be used to put on workshops providing hands-on experience in basic home repair skills for women. Follow their progress on twitter @WISEOttawa.

It truly was a very difficult voting decision last night with five very strong pitches for great projects. We would like to thank our other presenters:
