Under Construction

A huge thank you to everyone who participated and filled out our survey. We’ve heard you all loud and clear, which is why we’re so excited to officially announce that Soup Ottawa is going UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Thanks to all your amazing feedback, we’ll be cooking up some exciting new ideas to make Soup Ottawa an unforgettable event.

We appreciate your patience, please stay tuned for our grand unveiling and kick-off event in the near future. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter (@SoupOttawa) to stay in the soup loop.

Hang in there baby

CLAIM NEW GROUNDS (1)

Dear Soupers,

If you haven’t yet heard the news around town, Soup Ottawa is taking a short break. But don’t worry, it’s not you – it’s us! We’ve done some thinking lately and decided that after 2+ years and numerous events, it might be time for a little TLC.

We’ll be taking a couple months over the summer to take what we’ve learned since our start in 2013 and work on improving our events and Soup Ottawa as a whole.

Stay tuned, friends, because we aren’t going anywhere. We’ll be coming back bigger and better and we want you all there to help celebrate the new us!

We’ll be seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

The Soup Ottawa Team

Applications NOW OPEN for Spring Soup 2016!

Do you have a fresh new idea that would be perfect for Ottawa? What about an existing initiative that’s unlike anything the community has ever seen before?

If you answered yes to either of those questions, then we want you to apply to our Spring Soup to the theme of “Renew. Refresh. Rebuild.” Whether you’re an individual or an organization, an entrepreneur or a volunteer, we’re interested in hearing your ideas! We welcome both new and established projects.

What’s in it for you? Successful applications chosen to present at the next Soup Ottawa event will have a chance to win funding for their project (could be $1,000, give or take) By being a presenter, you will also have a great opportunity to generate awareness about your project, receive feedback, field questions, network, and possibly connect with future partners.

The application process is simple, and fairly quick. For more details on how to apply, please see: www.soupottawa.ca/apply/.

Applications are due by: Sunday, May 1, 2016

How does it work? Soup Ottawa is a micro-grant event that focuses on two things: good soup and funding great community projects. For $10, every attendee gets a bowl of quality soup and bread, and one vote. The community project presenter who receives the most votes wins every penny from the pool of cash. So if 100 people show up, that’s $1000 for the winning idea!

For more information, please see: www.soupottawa.ca/about

Soup Ottawa’s next event “Renew. Refresh. Rebuild.” will take place mid-May.

Thanks for coming out to Winter Soup #11!

12592781_760758454069064_146885822781559933_n

Earlier last week, 106 wonderful Soupers showed their support for six amazing local initiatives at
Arts Court Theatre for Soup Ottawa’s 11th event! MLT DWN spoiled us with their Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Bisque soup and freshly pressed grilled cheese (we’re drooling just thinking about it).

A HUGE thank you goes out to Arts Court and MLT DWN (located at the Rideau Centre) for partnering with us for this event!

The winner, as voted by you, was “ManUp” who took home a whopping $1,060! ManUp is a student-led group looking to change the way we treat women and they’ll be using their funding towards bringing guest speakers such as Mr. Glen Canning (father of the late Rehtaeh Parsons, Victim of Gender Violence) and Julie Barbosa (survivor of years of battery at the hands of her father. Julie and her brother broke the cycle of violence following the murder of their mother at the hands of their father) to their ManUp Inspire Conference in May 2016. Follow their progress on twitter @ManUpLDHSS and check out their website for more information: www.setanewstandard.ca.

We want to thank all of our presenters who came out and got up on stage to pitch their wonderful projects.

Don’t forget to follow us on twitter @SoupOttawa, and tag yourselves and your friends in our photo gallery on Facebook!

ABOUT MLT DWN:

If you don’t know MLT DWN, they’ve recently made their Ottawa debut in the Rideau Centre. They are a convenient, fast-casual counter-service dining experience and our speciality is Gourmet Grilled Cheese. More than just bread and cheese, that mean succulent pulled pork and flavours from your childhood, like creamy Kraft Dinner Mac n’ cheese, house-made Lasagne, and combining them with the cheesy goodness of a grilled cheese sandwich. The best part? All meats, cheeses and vegetables are locally sourced from Ontario and Quebec!
